Privacy Policy
Last updated: 12 May 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use and protect your personal data when you use the TailsTap platform at this website and related services (the "Platform"). It should be read alongside our Terms & Conditions. We process personal data in accordance with UK data protection law — the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. Who we are
The Platform is operated by VenturesSky Ltd (trading as TailsTap), a company registered in England & Wales (company number 05525840), registered office D&D Accountancy Suite 006, 44–60 Richardshaw Lane, Pudsey, England, LS28 7UR ("TailsTap", "we", "us"). We are the data controller for personal data processed through the Platform. For data-protection queries, contact us at info@tailstap.co.uk.
2. The data we collect
- Account data — name, email address, phone number, password (stored hashed), and your role (customer or provider).
- Pet and booking data — details about your pet(s) (name, type, breed, size, age, health, behaviour and access notes), and the bookings you make or fulfil, including dates, services, addresses and messages.
- Payment data — billing details and transaction records. Card payments are handled by our payment partner; we do not store full card numbers. Provider Direct Debit details for subscription billing are handled by our Direct Debit partner.
- Provider onboarding data — business details, and identity and verification documents you submit so we can admit you to the Platform.
- Content you submit — reviews, ratings, responses, support messages and dispute evidence.
- Usage and device data — IP address, browser and device information, pages viewed, and similar technical data collected through server logs and essential cookies.
3. How and why we use your data
- To provide the Platform — creating and managing your account, matching customers with providers, processing bookings, payments, payouts and refunds, and providing support. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
- To verify providers — checking identity and documents and managing approvals. Legal basis: legitimate interests (trust and safety of the marketplace) and, where applicable, legal obligation.
- To communicate with you — service messages about your bookings, account and payments. Legal basis: performance of a contract / legitimate interests.
- To keep the Platform safe and working — fraud prevention, security, debugging, and enforcing our Terms. Legal basis: legitimate interests and legal obligation.
- To comply with the law — tax, accounting, and responding to lawful requests. Legal basis: legal obligation.
- Marketing — we will only send marketing emails where you have asked for them or where permitted by law, and you can opt out at any time. Legal basis: consent or legitimate interests.
4. Who we share data with
- Customers and providers — when a booking is made, the customer and the relevant provider receive the information each needs to deliver and receive the service (e.g. contact details, pet details, address, scheduling).
- Payment partners — our card payment processor and our Direct Debit provider, who process payments and payouts on our behalf.
- Service providers — hosting, email delivery, error monitoring, mapping/geocoding and similar suppliers who process data on our instructions under appropriate contracts.
- Professional advisers and authorities — accountants, lawyers, insurers, and regulators, courts or law-enforcement where required or permitted by law.
- Business transfers — if we reorganise, sell or transfer the business, in connection with that transaction.
We do not sell your personal data.
5. Cookies
We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies — for example to keep you signed in and to protect forms against cross-site request forgery. These are required for the Platform to function. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
6. International transfers
Where any of our suppliers process personal data outside the UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards recognised under UK data protection law (such as the UK addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or an adequacy decision) to keep your data protected.
7. How long we keep data
We keep personal data only as long as we need it for the purposes set out above — typically for as long as you have an account and for a reasonable period afterwards — and longer where we must retain records to comply with legal, tax, accounting or dispute-resolution requirements. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.
8. How we protect data
We use technical and organisational measures appropriate to the risk, including encrypted connections, access controls, encryption of sensitive fields at rest, and regular backups. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and to notify you and the regulator where the law requires in the event of a breach.
9. Your rights
Subject to the conditions in UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- access a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have data erased in certain circumstances;
- restrict or object to certain processing, including direct marketing;
- receive certain data in a portable format; and
- withdraw consent where we rely on it (without affecting earlier processing).
To exercise any of these, email info@tailstap.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or 0303 123 1113, though we would appreciate the chance to address your concern first.
10. Children
The Platform is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and, where changes are material, notify you through the Platform or by email. The "last updated" date above shows when it was last revised.
